When it
comes to design the OnePlus 6 is beautiful, last year’s 5T was really similar
to the iPhone 7 and I noticed that the 6 is a mix between the S9+ and the
iPhone X, on the back we have a dual vertical camera setup with a weirdly shaped
fingerprint scanner under them, similar to the Samsung flagship and the notch
on the front (smaller than other smartphones’)… a trend first seen in the iPhone X (I believe). The smartphone is not slippery, like, at all,
which is amazing! The smartphone definitely
feels premium! The alert slider is a nice feature
of OnePlus’ devices and is
now above that power button on the right
side. On the left are the volume buttons alongside the dual SIM tray. On the bottom, there’s the single speaker that this
device has (I wanted stereo), the USB-C entrance and the Headphone Jack…still…
Which is absolutely amazing. The device does not have any kind of waterproofing
certification although it has some kind of water resistance for "everyday occasions, such as rain or an
accidental drop in a puddle, rather than for extreme scenarios"
On the front, the screen is perfect for any type of
activity but not as good as for example Samsung panels. They have bright colours and deep blacks which but the notch
kind of ruins the whole “cinema” experience. Anyway, the screen can also be
used to play games, just like PUBG at max quality thanks to the powerful
Snapdragon 845… Honestly, it looks ridiculously good.
Shot with the 6 |
The cameras are just average, there’s not much to
say about them except that the secondary camera still is used to improve
low-light photography by combining 4 pixels into 1. The front one is good-ish,
thank god beauty mode can actually be de-activated and, in good lighting, shots are sharp and colours are
nicely balanced. But, if you want a smartphone for the camera, this is not the
one, not even close.
When it
comes to battery, it would have been nice to see wireless charging but I’ld
still prefer they improved the cameras
before anything else. The battery is extremely good and can be quickly
recharged thanks to the company’s Dash Charge.
