2017 was a great year for the smartphone industry. There were many innovations and you can obviously see the difference between this year and the last one. Amongst the top of the line devices that were expected, like the borderless Galaxy S8 and the ugliest iPhone in Apple’s history, we also saw an improvement when it comes to budget smartphones: What I’m trying to say is that many companies released devices with good specs at a low price. Amongst the hundreds of them and ones from last year, there are some which are the best I can recommend for under 300€.
Keep in mind, as in the other post about top smartphones at different price points, it’s my opinion. It might not be the same as yours...
5.LeEco Le Pro 3
LeEco is not a well-known company although it delivers real bang for the buck devices. The smartphone has the Snapdragon 821 amongst 4 or 6GB of RAM and the Adreno530, really good when you consider the price. Now the display is a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 LCD panel. The 16MPx back camera has an aperture of f/2.0 with EIS and 4K video recording capability and EIS. The front camera comes in at 8MPx... Overall, let’s just say the camera isn’t the best you can buy...The battery life is really good, as it’s a FullHD panel with a 4020mAh battery, you can expect amazing battery life. The best characteristic of this device is the 180€ price point.
4.ZTE AXON 7
ZTE did it, although I don’t know much about this company, I noticed that this device from May 2016 is actually amazing. The device has the Snapdragon 820 from last year and the Adreno 530 amongst 4GB of RAM make it a powerful device. What you can expect to be amazing is watching content on it. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch 1440x2560 AMOLED display coupled with a top and a bottom front speaker for the stereo experience. It also has a 20MPx back lens with an aperture of f/1.8 for good low-light performance and a front 8MPx shooter. The 3250mAh battery will power the device for a solid day of average use and can be charged quickly thanks to the fast charging. 3.HONOR 9
Huawei is a company with wayyy to many devices. Honor belongs to Huawei and its smartphones, although don’t benefit from Huawei and Leica's partnership, also delivers really good devices. As I said on my review of the P10, the low-light performance of the camera is not the best, but the dual camera system on the back with f/2.2 lenses (one 20MPx monochromatic and another f/2.2 12MPx RGB) is great for day photography and has OIS. The front camera is also pretty good coming in at f/2.0 and 8.0MPx. The processor is the Kirin 960 amongst the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU which makes the phone a top-notch performer. The 5.15-inch LCD panel comes in at 1920x1080 and it’s really good. The battery will last you more than a day of moderate use and comes in at 3200mAh and can be charged pretty quickly thanks to fast charging. The device comes in at less than 290€ which is amazing really.
2.HTC U ULTRA
Now, coming in at a close second place is the HTC U Ultra. HTC’s sales have been dropping since the turn of the decade and the future doesn’t look too promising to the Taiwanese company. The U Ultra is massive, it has a 5.7-inch 1440x2560 Super LCD display and an addition 2-inch 160x1040 panel in the top to display notifications like the LG V series had (it’s a precise copy of the V series idea). The device carries the Snapdragon 821 amongst the Adreno 530 and 4GB of RAM for amazing performance. The camera is really good, it has a 12.3 MPx rear shooter which protrudes a lot, with a f/1.8 aperture, OIS, phase detection and laser autofocus. The front 16MPx camera is also really good and the quality of both lenses is comparable to the 2016 Pixel’s ones. The device is excessively large, incredibly beautiful in white, has capacitive keys which are horrible (really small and poorly placed) and an extremely small 3000mAh that can barely last a day of less than average use and fast charging.
1.XIAOMI MI NOTE 3
I have already included this device on my list of amazing devices you can’t miss this Christmas, here. The smartphone has the newest Snapdragon 660 amongst 6GB of RAM and the Adreno 512, which are quite powerful and power efficient. Talking about power, the device has a big battery of 3500mAh with fast charging which is pretty good. The 5.5-inch 1920x1080 LCD panel is absolutely amazing. The dual cameras on the back are pretty good, the best that Xiaomi has ever made. Not quite as good as the Ultra but it has a dual 12MPx camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and f/2.4, one normal and one telephoto, respectively. The OIS and EIS allow for amazing stabilization. The front 16MPx camera is also pretty good and can be used for face recognition.You can buy this amazing device for less than 290€

Maybe Xiaomi Mi A1 should be in this list instead of LeEco Le Pro 3 . That android one makes the A1 a unique smartphone ! By the way nice article !
